Interested in research and becoming a Teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing?
This Master’s of Arts (M.A.) program is appropriate for students with a special interest in meeting the language, educational, psychosocial, and communication needs of learners who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing (d/Dhh). Completion of the program meets eligibility requirements for Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH) Certification to become a Teacher of the d/Dhh (TODHH). This program is comprehensive and allows students to specialize and work in early intervention or K-12 settings across itinerant, small group, and/or specialized school settings with learners who are d/Dhh across Canada.

1 Full-time practicum coursework is required under the supervision of a full-time TODHH for 8 weeks during the second year of coursework and will require educational leave from any current work setting.

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing concentration accepts applications for a new cohort every other year. Cohorts begin in even years (e.g, 2024,2026) and interested individuals should apply September-December (e.g., 2023) for the next cohort.
