ICCSJ in Psychology

About the Conference

Save the date for the Inaugural Conference on Critical Social Justice (ICCSJ) in Psychology. The conference will take place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam people at The University of British Columbia between May 29th and 31st, 2025. This conference is a collaboration between the Faculty of Education at UBC and the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.

The conference’s overarching goal is to advance social justice issues in psychology and in parallel within broader society. Our conference will encourage attendees to (1) showcase indigenization and decolonization in psychology to highlight culturally responsive practice and assessment; (2) explore intersections of experiences and offer strategies to create inclusive environments; and (3) emphasize ways of dismantling systemic ‘isms’ and co-create solutions alongside communities who have been under-represented in psychology.

We invite students, scholars, practitioners, and community members across psychology disciplines to connect and collaborate. The conference will include a diverse program to be confirmed (e.g., a panel with elders, keynote addresses, research presentations, round table discussions, opportunities for networking, community forums, and wellness activities). This will be a dedicated space for attendees to share, exchange, and co-create knowledge rooted in the perspectives of those who have been socio-politically marginalized.

Abstract submissions are now open.
