Scholarly Interests:

Nic’s research is dedicated to the exploration and implementation of prevention programming for gender-based violence (e.g., rape, intimate partner violence, violence against trans and queer communities) and the understanding and eradication of rape culture. She is the coordinator of The Resistance Lab, which was founded on the idea that we can end gender-based violence through feminist consciousness-raising, high-quality research, empirically supported and culturally sensitive programming, and system-level change. Nic believes in the importance of public-facing research and therefore, utilizes social media (@FancyAcademic; @TheResistanceLab) and The Resistance Lab’s website to make research more accessible. She also engages in public scholarship (e.g., The National Psychologist; Washington Blade) and has been cited by several media outlets including: USA Today, APA’s Monitor on Psychology and Teen Vogue.
