In a collaboration between HDLC faculty and UBC’s Centre for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL), colleagues Natacha Monestel Mora, Jennifer A. Vadeboncoeur, Johanna Sam, Bruce Moghtader, and Surita Jhangiani co-authored a toolkit for university instructors entitled, Engaging young people as community-co-educators in university classrooms: A toolkit based upon the Six Rs for decolonizing higher education.
This Toolkit is offered as a resource for university instructors who are considering welcoming young people to their classrooms as co-educators, or considering how to enhance their current community engaged learning practices in ways that may contribute to decolonizing higher education.
The Toolkit includes conceptual framing for decolonizing higher education and constructions of “youth,” and braiding the Six Rs with critical youth studies, pathways for applying this framework, collaborative practices for university classrooms, collaborative assessments for learning, and resources.
