We are excited to recognize Marcus Lau, PhD candidate in Special Education at ECPS Department, for his contribution to Teacher Magazine (BC Teachers’ Federation publication).
His article, “Curiosity, Care, and Collaboration: Empowering School-Based Teams in an Inclusive Classroom,” offers a thoughtful and analytically grounded reflection on the relational dimensions of inclusive educational practice. Drawing on his professional experiences within a life-skills inclusive classroom in the Vancouver School Board, Marcus examines how the values of curiosity, care, and collaboration contribute to effective team-based approaches that support both student learning and educator well-being.
His contribution provides an important perspective on how inclusive education is strengthened through reflective dialogue, shared responsibility, and the cultivation of positive professional relationships. The ECPS community commends Marcus for advancing critical conversations in this field and for exemplifying the department’s commitment to research-informed practice.
