QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference is given to instructors with a strong understanding of classroom assessment and learning principles. Experience teaching K-12 in British Columbia is preferred. Experience teaching in an IB school is preferred for the IB/ABC cohort (Section 102). It is preferred that applicants have completed a graduate course in classroom assessment (e.g., EPSE 581) before teaching this course, but it is not mandatory. Completion of EPSE 606, College and University Teaching, is considered a significant asset. Doctoral students are preferred to have reached candidacy and must have received approval from their supervisor before apply for these sections.
Specific Course Information and Requirements:
EPSE 310A is for Elementary and Middle Years Teacher Candidates and is offered from January to March. These sections are conducted exclusively in seminar format. Instructors will cover the full course content within their seminar sections. Doctoral students applying for these sections must have attained candidacy in their doctoral program before the course begins. The course functions as a community of practice, with instructors and the course coordinator collaborating on the content and organisation. A common syllabus will be used across all sections and instructors. All instructors are expected to attend several planning sessions scheduled in the fall term. Candidates with experience teaching EPSE 310B will be given priority when hiring for EPSE 310A.
