Congratulations to Dr. Sterett Mercer on his 3rd term appointment as the Chris Spencer Foundation Professor
This will be Dr. Mercer’s 3rd term holding this Professorship. The Advisory Committee was impressed with Dr. Mercer’s significant research accomplishments, teaching, and leadership to date in relation to the Professorship, his vision and diversity statements, and his concrete research plans to be carried out in the near future. As Chris Spencer Foundation Professor, Dr. Mercer is charged with the mandate of pursuing a research program focused on dyslexia, while providing leadership and coordination of research and educational activities within the Faculty of Education and across UBC, and working with school communities to effectively meet the needs of children with dyslexia and related learning disabilities. This Professorship is for a three-year term, effective July 1, 2021.
