Play therapy is an effective way to work with children ages 3 to 12 years old. This presentation will focus on a nondirective approach to play therapy known as Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), which is generally considered a foundation for more directive approaches to play therapy. A description of CCPT will be provided, along with applications and research on this approach. We will also go over the child therapy process, playroom supplies, some basic CCPT skills, play themes, and the therapeutic process.
