Welcome Dr. Thomas Schanding

We are pleased and excited to welcome Dr. Thomas Schanding.

Dr. Schanding joins us from the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) where he was an Associate Professor and Director of the School Psychology Program. He has extensive teaching graduate level courses in School Psychology and a strong record of student supervision. His research agenda examines assessment and intervention for students’ social, emotional, and behavioral health, focusing on social and emotional learning (SEL). Dr. Schanding’s research examines the utility of the SELSI as a screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring measure. He also seeks ways to efficiently screen and diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr. Schanding also examines the school experiences of students who identify as LGBTQ. This has included teachers’ perceptions of bullying and students’ reports of gender expression.
