School Psychology Awareness Week 2015

The theme for School Psychology Awareness Week 2015 is Connect the Dots and THRIVE! Their goal is to help connect students to the academic and social-emotional skills they need to promote personal achievement, growth, and resilience, as well as a sense of belonging and well-being.

SCPS students and faculty are participating in National School Psychology Awareness Week: November 9 – 13, 2015.

The annual and ever-popular School Psychology Awareness Week bake sale fundraiser is scheduled on November 12th from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the lobby of Neville Scarfe!

School psychologists are members of the school team that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behaviour to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviourally, and emotionally. Furthermore, they guide support and interventions to students, such as learning assessments, academic and behavioural interventions, counselling, and social skills training. School psychologists consult with teachers, families, and other educators to improve support strategies and school-wide practices and policies.
