Rashmeen Nirmal (PhD Candidate)

Rashmeen Nirmal is from Vancouver Island, British Columbia and is currently a doctoral candidate in the school psychology program. She graduated with her Masters in school psychology from UBC, and as part of her training, completed her internship with the Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Disorders (POPARD). At POPARD, she provided consultation, intervention, and assessment for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders in several school districts in BC. Rashmeen completed her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she received a golf scholarship. Currently, Rashmeen’s clinical and research interests are Neurodevelopmental Disorders, with a specialization in autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities. Rashmeen is a certified UCLA PEERS provider, an evidence-based social skills treatment program for adolescents and young adults with high-functioning autism (HFA). Her doctoral research focuses on supporting young adults with HFA in college and university settings. Rashmeen is currently completing her APA accredited pre-doctoral residency with the Fort Worth Independent School District and Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. In her spare time, she enjoys golfing, surfing, fitness, traveling, reading, fashion and art, music, cooking and entertaining, and spending time with her family.
