Ellen Shumka is currently in her first year of the doctoral program in School Psychology at UBC, under the supervision of Dr. Shelley Hymel. Her previous academic training includes a BA in Psychology and English from the University of Waterloo. Her MA research focused on how students justify and rationalize (a construct referred to as moral disengagement) involvement in bullying behaviour. Specifically, she examined the effects of peer moral disengagement on individual bullying behaviour. She is also involved in Dr. Lynn Miller’s Anxiety Projects research lab.
