About the talk
The context of my talk will be our uncertain times: technological turn and digital domination, wars (including economic ones), consequences of the pandemic, a general neglect of humanistic culture and attitude, migrations, just to mention a few aspects of our contemporary world. In such a context we pose a question about education and it’s meaning. One can also ask if a genuine education ever took place or maybe it was always an ideal rather than something we have a chance do experience. During my speech, I would like to suggest a way of understanding contemporary education by introducing the concept of “pedagogical apologias” as an instrument for distinguishing the position we take in educational and relational experiences. This instrument can be used to perform an education as “music” of a sort. That is why it requires fine ears. Listening as a way of being plays in education a crucial role. So, after a short discussion on “pedagogical apologias” I will address the issue of “sense” understanding and, then, I will focus on the question of the sense of listening. In this way my talk will be an introduction to my concept of an “acouological education.” The valid question, however, remains: if such an education has any meaning in today’s uncertain world. All participants are inviting to think about this issue with me.
