Academic Publishing: Advice on When, Why, and How to Begin

Monday, November 16, 2015  |  2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Neville Scarfe, Room 310

Do you know when, why, and how to begin thinking about academic publishing?

Sit with some experienced folks to learn about their experiences as journal editors!

Join us as we draw from the expertise of Professor Sandra Mathison (Co-Editor (founding), Critical Education, 2009 – present; Editor-in-Chief, New Directions for Evaluation, 2007-2012), Professor Nancy Perry (Associate Editor, Journal of Learning and Instruction, 2013-present), and Associate Professor Sterett Mercer (Associate Editor Journal of School Psychology, 2012-present).

Discover answers to a range of questions, including:

  • When to shift from thinking about publishing to writing a manuscript for publication?
  • Why do publications matter? Do they matter for everyone equally? What is the role of publications in graduate school and beyond?
  • How to start? How to locate a journal? How to find journal requirements for authors? What is peer review?

Sponsored by the ECPS Student Council.

Please RSVP so we can ensure room arrangements.
