ECPS Department is pleased to welcome Dr. Vicki Knight as tenure-track Assistant Professor in Special Education starting July 1st, 2018. Dr. Knight has more than 20 years of experience working with students who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Prior to joining UBC Dr. Knight was Assistant Professor in Special Education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Previously, she has worked as Director of ASD certification program and has taught all graduate courses in the ABA sequence at the University of Kentucky. Her Research interests include: (a) Applying principles and tactics derived from ABA to promote learning of core content, specially in the areas of STEM; and (b) Evaluation and dissemination of evidence-based practices for students with ASD. She has published, presented, and trained educators in these areas internationally. Dr. Knight has developed a curriculum for teaching students with severe disabilities science content. She serves on the editorial boards of three journals, including Research and Practice for Persons with Severe disabilities and Focus on Autism and Development Disabilities. She works closely with undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students across several research projects.
