Dr. Xiangyi Liao is an Assistant Professor in Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology. She previously received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Quantitative Methods) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Liao’s research centers on the development and application of quantitative methods in education and the broader social sciences. Specific topics including latent variable modeling, item response theory (IRT) models, multilevel modeling and causal machine learning. Her current projects focus on the measurement of growth, especially expanding the traditional measurement toolbox for better understanding person-level heterogeneity in development, and the ways that heterogeneity can and should inform teaching, learning, and the administration of tailored interventions.
