The Ida Institute has awarded Dr. Janet Jamieson funds ($9,704.00 USD) to further research regarding Ida tools and person-centered care.
Project Title: Ototoxic hearing loss among childhood cancer survivors: Parent perceptions of facilitators and barriers to successful hearing rehabilitation.
Private Investigator: Janet Jamieson
Co-Investigators: Beth Brooks (BC Children’s Hospital, Audiology), and Marla Buchanan
Dr. Jamieson is investigating the impact of hearing loss on the families of children who have survived cancer. Hearing loss is a notable side effect of chemotherapy in children, and the study will look at what information is needed to support these children and their parents in their hearing rehabilitation. A multi-disciplinary team including an audiologist and a counseling psychologist will be responsible for the research.
Research for this project, as well as two other Research Committee Grant projects , will begin in September 2016 and run for up to one year.
Congratulations, Janet!
