Story by: Julie Acres  |  Published May 2016

Since 2009, the Faculty of Education has been working with Kenya’s Moi University and the Dadaab refugee camp in northeastern Kenya to develop and implement a teacher education program for secondary school teachers in the Dadaab settlement.

ECPS Professor Elizabeth Jordan traveled to Dadaab in April to teach educators at Kenyatta University located within the refugee camp. Upon her return, she has shared her experience and photographs from the incredible experience.

Through conversation, Professor Jordan reveals the biggest teaching challenge that she faced in Dadaab, and how this significant experience managed to inspire a veteran UBC instructor.
