Storying Later Life: Narrative Gerontology Theory and Practice – Dr. Gary M. Kenyon (video)

A workshop led by an expert in metaphor and adult development and aging… and is listed in the Who’s Who in Canada and the United States!

Dr. Kenyon will:

  • Explore the contribution of the “Life as Story” metaphor for both theory and practice in the field of adult development and aging
  • Consider select concepts of Narrative Gerontology, where biology is fathomed with biography
  • Examine examples of “Narrative Care”

About Gary:

Gary Kenyon, Ph.D., an alumnus of UBC’s Interdisciplinary Studies Ph.D. Program, is currently situated in Fredericton, New Brunswick at St. Thomas University. Here, he is the founding Chair and Professor of the Gerontology Department. Among his numerous commitments, Dr. Kenyon is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Aging Studies and Narrative Works.

Recent publications include Narrative Gerontology (Springer, 2001) with P. Clark and B. de Vries and Storying Later Life (Oxford, 2011) with Bill Randall and Ernst Bohlmeijer. See also http://www.stu.ca/academic/gero/kenyon/index.htm

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Kenyon is a teacher and practitioner of Tai Chi and is an apprentice Barista.
