Congratulations to Dr. Shelley Hymel on her reappointment as the Edith Lando Professor in Social and Emotional Learning, effective January 31, 2018. This Professorship is charged with the mandate of advancing and engaging in research to support evidenced-based practices in the area of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), which includes teaching young people how to recognize and manage emotions, make responsible decisions, establish a caring attitude, and handle challenging situations effectively. This Professorship also has the mandate of developing, translating and mobilizing knowledge related to research in SEL in academic, education and community settings.
