Dr. Joanna Cannon Expands Her Teaching Skills for PADS

This week, we spoke with Dr. Joanna Cannon about her recent (furry) project.

Joanna Cannon is an Assistant Professor in Special Education with the department of ECPS at the University of British Columbia.  Her areas of research include language and literacy acquisition of students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Recently, she has committed to learning a new form of education – dog training for a Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) pup.  About 10 weeks ago, she began working with Clove, a female yellow lab.  Clove has flourished under the patient and well-trained instruction that Dr. Cannon provides and will clearly grow up to be one of the smartest dogs that UBC has ever seen!

Dr. Joanna Cannon introduces Clove.
