ECPS Grad Student Joins Top 25 Finalists at the 2016 SSHRC Storyteller’s Challenge

April 4, 2016: The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) announced in the top 25 finalists in the 2016 SSHRC Storytellers Challenge. The annual competition challenges post-secondary students from across the country to demonstrate (in up to three minutes or 300 words) how SSHRC-funded research is making a difference in the lives of Canadians.

Tara Rodas (ECPS) is one of four student finalists from UBC!

Tara’s Bio

SSHRC Storyteller finalist 2016 - Tara Rodas
Currently completing her Master of Arts in Special Education-Autism & Developmental Disabilities at UBC, Tara Rodas is a Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst (BCaBA). She has spent the past few years working with individuals with ASD in home, educational, and recreational settings as a Assistant Behaviour Analyst and Special Education Assistant. Currently a Program Coordinator with the Canucks Autism Network, Tara’s background includes instructing and program planning in sports, social, and art programs. Her research looks at instructor training and implementing physical activity programs for individuals with autism.


The Top 25 finalists represent 18 post-secondary institutions across Canada, each receive a cash prize of $3,000 and will go on to compete in The Storytellers Showcase at the 2016 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences – May 28 to June 3 at the University of Calgary.
