Dr. Lynn Miller Presented 2015 APA Mid-Career Award

cropped-Lynn-Miller.jpgDr. Lynn Miller has been selected to receive the 2015 American Psychological Association (APA) Early-Career and Mid-Career Award for Outstanding Contributions to Benefit Children, Youth, and Families.

The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions in science, policy and practice that benefit the psychological functioning or well-being of children, youth, and families. Well-being is defined broadly to include mental and physical health, cognitive/educational, and socio-emotional outcomes. These outcomes can extend beyond the individual and include parents and family systems as well.

 A Statement From Lynn:

I’m so pleased to receive this mid-career award from the American Psychological Association for contributions to children’s mental health issues and policy. The Myrne Nevison Research Professorship merits my utmost gratitude.
I  share this award with all the students from the Anxiety Projects Lab at UBC over the years who have helped me conduct research and intervention with children and adolescents, and all the school boards who have been receptive to conducting research in their schools. I think our team approach is really what is awarded here, and I’ve been so fortunate to have been a part of the team’s dedication, innovation, and creativity.

Lynn’s achievements and contributions will be honoured during the APA Convention in Toronto, Ontario in August. Dr. Lauren Fasig Caldwell will be hosting a special social for Lynn during the conference, where she will be presented with a plaque.
